Morag Anderson
Poet in Residence for Birnam Book Festival
We are delighted to announce that Morag Anderson, 2023 Federation of Writers Makar will be our Poet in Residence for the 2023 Birnam Book Festival. Morag will be joining us throughout the festival weekend of 21st & 22nd October to help immerse audiences in this year’s theme ‘Legends, Lore, Stories & Song’. Morag will be performing a specially commissioned poem exploring persecution of women labelled ‘Witches’ in 16th century Scotland, a theme which will be woven throughout the festival. She is also working with local schools and the ‘Autumn Voices’ project to help nurture new writing from across the community.
Morag Anderson’s appointment as the Poet in Residence for the Birnam Book Festival is a testament to her talent and the impact of her poetry. Her work is a celebration of the Scottish landscape and culture, and her use of language and imagery is both beautiful and thought-provoking. Anderson’s involvement in the festival promises to be a highlight, and her workshops and readings are not to be missed.
