With Dr. Toria Johnson

Date: Saturday 26th October

Venue: Main Hall

What does Macbeth’s Scotland really look like? Is it dark, moody, and bloody – or something else entirely? Drawing on production histories and archival research from the Shakespeare Memorial Library in Birmingham – the world’s oldest and largest public-library Shakespeare collection – Dr. Toria Johnson, Associate Professor of Early Modern Literature at the University of Birmingham, shows how people have imagined Scotland in and through Shakespeare’s Scottish play. Hear about the new Macbeth project in Birnam involving the school, the Community Archive and other groups.
